This workshop will cover proactive strategies and best practices for special educators in a variety of practical areas, as well as time for Q&A:
* All things records-related: Education records request vs public records request / What is covered (and not) under FERPA / What you can (and can’t) charge for / New timelines / Test protocols / Videotapes / Raw data / Releases to DHS, CASA, and foster parents / Sharing with threat assessment teams that include community partners
* Working with outside entities: When to ask for ROIs / Consideration of private reports and evaluation / How to work with private providers and other parent-selected “experts” who write reports or show up at IEP meetings, request on-site visits, or ask staff to complete forms
* Related services providers (or are they?): Direct vs related OT services / using telehealth for SLP services / consent for telehealth services
* Attendance at IEP meetings: Impact of SB 756
* Communication plans: Why are these suddenly on every IEP? How IEP teams should consider this request / Considerations when drafting communication plans / Can IEP teams just say no?
* Recent ODE final orders and OCR guidance
Workshop Cost: $250 per registrant
(Lunch and materials included) $225 each for 4 or more attendees from one district
